Materials/Methods:
2652 consecutive patients with clinically localized prostate cancer (cT1-3, N0/X, M0) received definitive low-dose rate brachytherapy alone or in combination with external beam radiotherapy or hormone ablation in our department from 1992-2005. The presence or absence of first-degree family history was collected prospectively in a comprehensive prostate cancer database for 1738 men. The primary end-point was biochemical failure using the ASTRO consensus definition. Minimum follow-up was 2 years and the median follow-up was 60 months (range 24-197 months).
